3/4cupsoy milk, or any other milk you prefer (for thinner oatmeal see my note below)
2tsp100% maple syrup
1tspunsweetened cocoa powder
1tspground cinnamon
sliced almonds for topping(optional)
Instructions
In a small pot over the stove, add oats, milk, and maple syrup. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to simmer. Note: If you prefer thinner oats, add an additional 1/2 cup of milk.
Cook oats until the milk has mostly been soaked up by the oats and becomes thick. This usually takes about 5-7 minutes. Be sure to stir frequently to prevent the milk from scalding.
Once oats are at your desired texture, take them off the heat and mix in the cocoa powder and cinnamon until thoroughly combined.
Scoop oatmeal into a bowl and top with sliced almonds for that added crunch. Enjoy!
